Family Literacy Week Jan.22-26

Calling all families! Family literacy week is fast approaching. Each family is encouraged to participate
in at least one or more of the literacy activities throughout the week.

1. Lecture en famille: Parents are welcome in the school on Tuesday, January 30th from 1:30-2:00 to
read with their child in their classroom. If a parent is not available to come in, students will read with
their buddy from another class. Please let your classroom teacher know if a parent will be coming in to
read.

2. Mystery Readers: We are inviting parents and/or family members to be mystery readers and read a
story to your child’s class via Zoom or to come into the classroom. Please contact your classroom
teacher if you’d like to be a mystery reader. Intermediate students also love to be read to, this is not
only for primary grades!

3. Favourite Book Poster or Shoe Box: Last year we received some amazing posters and dioramas of
student’s favourite books. We’d like to decorate our hallways once again this year with a poster or a
shoe box inspired by your family’s favourite book. Please have posters/shoe
boxes in by January 30th or sooner.

4. Family Literacy Photos: Families are invited to send in a photo of a literacy activity they enjoy doing
together. Please send the photos to Mme Desnica (desnica@ess.vancouver.bc.ca)
